Transcend x Armoire: Be the Buyer + Get Styled

Join us for an exclusive evening where Armoire subscribers and style-conscious shoppers become the decision-makers. Browse a curated selection of Transcend outerwear pieces, vote on your favorites, and tell us what you actually want to wear (or rent!) this season.

Here’s how it works: Armoire stylists will be tracking which pieces resonate most with our community—your selections, feedback, and styling preferences will go directly to Armoire’s buying team to inform inventory decisions. This is collaborative curation at its finest.

Bring Your Case & Get Styled: Currently renting from Armoire? Bring your case along! Our Armoire and Transcend stylists will be on hand to offer personalized styling guidance—learn how to layer boldly, mix prints and textures, and style your current rentals with Transcend’s maximalist, handcrafted pieces. Walk away with fresh outfit inspiration and new ways to wear what’s already in your rotation.

Why at Transcend? We’re partnering with Transcend because both brands believe in intentional, sustainable fashion that honors craftsmanship and reduces waste. Explore Transcend’s upcycled collections and meet the refugee and immigrant artisans who bring each piece to life.

About Transcend: More than a fashion studio, Transcend is a living ecosystem where refugee and immigrant seamstresses transform landfill-bound textiles into wearable art. Founded by Nazia Siddiqui—recognized by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce as one of America’s Top 100 Small Business leaders in 2025—we’re building a hyper-local, circular fashion model that creates meaningful economic opportunities while celebrating cultural heritage and skilled craftsmanship.

Come for the shopping, stay for the styling and community. Enjoy refreshments, connect with fellow fashion-lovers, and be part of a movement that’s redefining how we dress—thoughtfully, beautifully, and sustainably.

Open to Armoire subscribers and guests. RSVP required.

Shoddy not Shoddy Competition Day

We’re keeping textiles out of the landfill – and we’re doing it with style!

On Friday, September 19th, put on your best DIY or upcycled outfit and join us at FRIDA in Pioneer Square to find out how Seattle designers are transforming textile waste in the Shoddy not Shoddy Design Challenge!

Our participating designers will create a proof of concept that transforms shoddy (shredded fabric) into not-so-shoddy original designs that blend functionality, craftsmanship, and circularity.

Shoddy not Shoddy designers are competing for a chance to display their design during Belltown Art Walk, receive a free production consultation from Redesign Collective, win a gift basket of local goodies, and win a baby lock Lauren serger!

Attendees will get to cast their vote for audience favorite, watch a live spinning demo, shop curated vintage and indie designs from FRIDA, and celebrate the hard work of Seattle’s most innovative designers.

The first 10 attendees to make a donation of $50 or more – either when getting their ticket or in person – will receive a gift bag including a tote featuring original artwork by Nikita Ares and other locally-made goodies!

This event is part of Seattle Made Week 2025 and is produced by Northwest Sewn and in collaboration with Satsuma Designs, KFLY Studios, Redesign Collective, FRIDA, and the Seattle Central College School of Apparel Design & Development.

Shoddy not Shoddy Design Challenge Designer Sign Up

Are you an up-and-coming designer in Seattle who will revolutionize how we treat fabric waste?

Let’s find out this September at the Shoddy not Shoddy Design Challenge! Participants will collect “shoddy” (shredded fabric) and create original designs that incorporate the material. We’re keeping textiles out of the landfill – and we’re doing it with style.

Local leaders in circular fashion and interior design can come meet these rising talents during our reception. Winning designs will be showcased during Belltown Art Walk.

Grand prize is a serger, generously donated to the SCC School of Apparel Design & Development!

Review guidelines below and sign up here – please note that participants need to pick up shoddy from KFLY Studios in Belltown on July 10 or July 12 from 5-7pm.

This event is produced by Northwest Sewn and in collaboration with Satsuma Designs, KFLY Studios, Redesign Collective, and the Seattle Central College School of Apparel Design & Development.

Questions? Contact our organizer Sydney Porter at sydney@seattlegood.org

Guidelines

  • All ages welcome
  • Shoddy must be collected from KFLY Studios in Belltown, Seattle. Pick up dates are July 10 and July 12, 5-7pm both days. Shoddy is first come, first serve. Attendance of a pick up event is required for participation in the competition.
    • Note: The shoddy being used in this challenge is made up from the scrap fabrics generated by the Seattle Central College School of Apparel Design and Development, and has been shredded by Satsuma Designs. The shoddy is a composite material, containing mixed fibers.
  • Designs can be products (ex. furniture, toys) or apparel and accessories.
  • Use of second-life or recovered textiles in place of new fabrics is encouraged. Please review all judging criteria and key dates for guidance.
  • Minimum and maximum amounts of shoddy: One standard paper grocery bag holds 4-5 gallons. Minimum use of shoddy in designs is ½ bag, and maximum use is 3 bags.
